Aerospace infrastructures
Nexans is a long-term partner of the aerospace adventure by providing solutions for the safe transfer of liquid propellants.
Cryogenic transfer systems for spaceports infrastructures
Transfering liquid propellants, safely.
Nexans is a long-term partner of the aerospace adventure, by providing solutions for the safe transfer of liquid propellants.
Nexans vacuum insulated piping solutions allow safe and reliable transfer of cryogenic fluids and chemicals over hundreds of meters, from storage tanks to launch stations. Commonly applied to LH2 and LOX, they are also suitable with liquefied methane and possibly kerosene to offer compatibility with all technologies of liquid-propelled rockets.
Nexans also equips aerospace facilities with dedicated systems for purging and pre-cooling of the cryogenic infrastructures with nitrogen, hydrogen and helium.
Vacuum monitoring and double containment for maximal safety
On top of a robust construction and full factory preparation - including vacuum pumping - that made Nexans reputation, double containment and continuous vacuum monitoring are undeniable assets for safety management during fueling operations in such places where leakages and spills of propellants must be avoided by all means.
- Continuous vacuum monitoring allows instant detection in case of mechanical damage of the transfer lines and automatic trigger of safety/emergency procedures
- Double containment prevents spills by keeping chemicals confined in case of problem
Nexans cryogenic systems already equip world-class rocket launch facilities such as DLR in Germany or SHAR in India. They allow safe transfer of LOX, LH2 and Helium.
